Our current gaming market is flooded with shiny, high-end graphics that render dust in sunbeams and ultra-realistic physics that make sure your character's hair blows in the gentle breeze swirling around them just so. All of that is incredible, and for some genres, namely fantasy and shooters, those visuals really pay off. But then you come across something like "Moon Hunters," and you remember that simplicity is beautiful in its own right, too. "Moon Hunters" by Kitfox Games is an action/adventure RPG for one to four players and offers a vibrant, beautiful experience which utilizes pixel art and is currently collecting a pretty penny on Kickstarter. As young people finish school and try to advance in their careers, it starts to become apparent that basic computer knowledge isn't enough anymore the way it used to be. In order to get far in just about any field, you have to learn how programs work - how they talk. And that can be boring or even difficult for some. Right now my roommate, someone with practically a master's in biology, is going through an online course to learn some computer programming skills to help advance her career. While she seems to be getting it, the sounds of her frustration echo through the apartment whenever there is a homework assignment due and her program isn't working right. Read more »

In this day and age, I'd say you'd be hard-pressed to find a gamer that hasn't played some sort of mech game. There are tons of games where you're a lone pilot in a cockpit, controlling a 100 ton bi-pedal killing machine, equipped with every manner of missile, gun and laser. When I first clicked on the link for Ironcast, I was expecting another game like that - first-person, in a cockpit and stomping around shooting bad guys. Read more »

Nintendo Announces New 3DS
Another 3DS, but this time it has new things.
Nintendo announced a new 3DS model at the latest Nintendo Direct. Two new 3DS models are coming out very soon, the new XL and the regular 3DS. These new models are going to hit Japan's shelves on October 13th 2014, with no release date for the US yet. Read more »
“Assassin’s Creed Unity” Delayed Until November
Now We Wait... Just a Little Bit Longer
Today Ubisoft confirmed that "Assassin's Creed Unity" will have a two week delay in addition to a day-one patch. This pushes the release date back to November 11th in North America and November 13th in Australia. Ubisoft states the delay gives the team little longer to add polish. Read more »
