Audiosurf 2
Riding Some Tunes
I should preface this by saying how much I love music-based games and "Audiosurf" is easily my favorite of the genre. According to Steam, I've logged 104 hours in the original "Audiosurf" game, and that seems fair. "Audiosurf" is fantastic, because it only takes a couple of minutes to play a round, and then you can go back to other things. During college, I would take breaks from papers by blasting through some fast music, or I would calm myself for bed by playing some slower songs and letting the game's visuals hypnotize me. Throwback Thursday: Chip’s Challenge
There’s a Bug in the System
Originally developed in 1989, “Chip’s Challenge” was a puzzle game which required you – Chip – to find a way to complete increasingly difficult puzzle challenges. You knew you completed the challenge when you found your way unobstructed to a blue tile after getting past obstacles like ice, fire. There were a total of 148 levels to complete in the original; there were 149 in the Microsoft version. Read more »
Creating Worlds in Manyland
Drawing New Worlds in a Creative-Mode Platformer
Open-world sandbox games have littered the indie gaming scene, exploding with the popularity of "Minecraft." Being able to explore a world together – sometimes with friends, others with strangers – is fascinating, a feeling that’s multiplied exponentially when you get to build together. Of course, the ability to explore and create with strangers isn’t anywhere near new; it’s one of the most basic features of an MMO. But lately, the desire to work together and create – rather than destroy with a sniper from a hidden spot on the top of a building – has bled into other genres. Read more »
Sentinels of the Multiverse
A Game For Heroes
It's really no mistake that I'm writing this article while the 2012 "Avengers" movie plays in the background. Both are similar in nature, and it's hard to imagine a game like "Sentinels of the Multiverse" existing without something like the Avengers existing (or Justice League or other big superhero teams). They very much go hand in hand. Read more »

Grand Theft Auto V: Most Expensive Video Game Production In History
Rockstar Isn't Messing Around
Rockstar is known for making big games. Not just games that everyone gets excited about, but games that are actually huge. When you drive through Liberty City in "Grand Theft Auto IV," it feels like you're actually driving through a real, functional city. In "Red Dead Redemption," riding through the desert or midwest forests in the game feels like a real, lengthy ordeal. Rockstar does not like little sandboxes. Read more »
