“Magic: The Gathering’s” Theros Release Set for This Weekend
New Theros Decks Unfolded This Weekend
Wizards of the Coast released their new iteration of "Magic: The Gathering", "Theros," at midnight Sept. 21.
“MTG” fans across the country gathered at their local gaming retailer during the midnight release to purchase special booster packs of their card preference (mountain, island, forest, swamp, or plains). The packs included four booster packs and a limited edition D20 in their color choice.
The “Theros” release included updated abilities in the cards. Some cards awarded the ability to “scry,” which allowed players to look at a certain number of cards in their deck and select whether or not to keep them at the top or move them to the bottom. Another popular ability was “bestow,” an enchantment which grants a target creature special abilities (e.g., vigilance), as well as becomes a separate creature itself if the target creature is destroyed.
If you love “Magic” but missed the Friday release, no fear! Some retailers are currently hosting stacked release events with two on Saturday, as well as two more on Sunday. Look up the gaming shop closest to you for more information about any local events.
