World of Warcraft Gear to See Stat Reduction in Next Expansion
Blizzard Scaling Gear Down Next Expansion
"World of Warcraft" players can expect to see a reduction in stats on gear – and by extension, their numbers – when patch the next expansion is released.
Some "WoW" players have been aware of the problems that come with exponentially increasing stats on their gear and weapons: upgrades are more difficult to gauge and the damage/healing they deal is so large, the raw numbers are essentially meaningless. However, lead developer Ghostcrawler addresses the issue in an interview with MMO Champion today:
We have considered this problem, and we will reduce players' stats in the next expansion.
What does this mean for the current power balance between players’ gear and previous content? Currently, users solo older raids for the sake of obtaining rare mounts, pets, and transmog gear. Although Ghostcrawler acknowledged that Blizzard will be changing stats on gear, he did not mention anything about how the new gear will scale with older content, bosses, or items.
There are two major possibilities: either the gear will scale apart from older content, making it more difficult to get your Warglaives or Ashes of Al’ar without competition, or zones, dungeons, and raids will scale with the decrease.
