Unexpected Battle.net Crash Confirmed DDoS Attack
Playtime Interrupted for all Battle.net-Linked Games
Update 11:49 P.M.
In a blue post, Blizzard confirmed the authentication problems, disconnects, and instance and world server outages were caused by a DDoS attack in a blue post late this evening. This is not the first time Blizzard has been DDoSed this month; when "Warlords of Draenor" launched in mid November, Blizzard was targeted by another series of DDoS attacks.
Battle.net is currently being affected by a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. While this is ongoing, you may have trouble connecting to games or services on Battle.net, or encounter high latency or disconnects once you have connected. Rishgur, Blizzard Entertainment
Update 11:08 P.M. EST
Blizzard recommended a workaround for "World of Warcraft" that involves launching from the game directly from the "World of Warcraft" program files folder. However, users are still reporting errors with instance servers crashing, world servers going down, and being unable to use the workaround at all. Forum posts are almost nonexistant, and players are relying on the @blizzardcs twitter account for details:
The workaround may not help as users are reporting character issues once getting in to the game. Admins still investigating

At approximately 10:20 P.M. EST, the Battle.net service crashed for players worldwide, taking down "World of Warcraft" world and instance servers, crashing "Heroes of the Storm" matches, and ending "Hearthstone" matches. Some players were required to re-queue to connect to the service, bearing a 40-minute wait just to connect. That may not include any additional queue time to play the games themselves.
Stay connected to Player Theory for updates on the situation. In the meantime, there's always Steam!
Our Network Admins are working on the Desktop App Queue issue, run the WoW-64.exe file directly in the meantime to bypass the launcher.
