UK Retailer GAME Revealed “Shovel Knight” Amiibo
A Future Appearance for "Smash" Perhaps?
The UK retailer GAME may have accidentally revealed an amiibo figure for "Shovel Knight" (caught by NintendoLife).
GAME tweeted an image of the amiibo and information that it would unlock content for "Shovel Knight" on the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS, with the amiibo coming out (at least in Europe) on November 27. This tweet has since been deleted, suggesting that the reveal went live too soon. Suspiciously, the information stated that other games and Nintendo products that Yacht Club Games have worked on could use the amiibo, which might hint at the possibility that the character Shovel Knight could be coming to "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U & 3DS. Nothing of the sort has been confirmed yet, however.
Interestingly, Yacht Club Games has a big "megaton" announcement ready for PAX, and an amiibo seems a bit small to fit that bill. Could the announcement be related to "Super Smash Bros.?" Stay tuned to Player Theory for an update in the future.
