Ubisoft Releases New “Watch Dogs” Gameplay Demo
15-Minute Long Narrated Demo Covers the Finer Points of Next-Gen Hacking
Ubisoft released a new gameplay video showcasing the hacking and multiplayer aspects of their new IP "Watch Dogs."
The next-gen demo gives us a peek into the finer points of hacking your way through Ubisoft’s fictionalized version of Chicago. In the video, the player first stealthily infiltrates a hub and grants the protagonist, Aiden Pearce, access to all devices in a neighbourhood’s radius. With his newfound access, Aiden is able to locate a crime-in-progress and subsequently thwarts the criminal through an elaborate car chase scene through Chicago’s ghettos.
The video stresses the importance of the game’s morality scale, stating that there isn’t always clear good or bad decisions. These choices will impact how NPCs view Aiden and will consequently have repercussions throughout the game.
Following this demonstration, the narrator then takes us through one of the game’s multiplayer interactions. The player is unexpectedly hacked and is forced to identify the hacker through image scanning each nearby pedestrian.
Players in “Watch Dogs” are always at threat of hacking while they are connected online, as shown in the conclusion of the demo. Aiden takes revenge on the hacker that infiltrated earlier and lures him into an ambush in Chicago’s back alleys.
