The Negatives Invite You to Learn “The Hole Story” - Young Game Developers Look for Crowd-Funding

Indie educational gaming studio, Learn District, teams up with the winners of their competition “Girls Make Games” to develop a top-down adventure/puzzle RPG called “The Hole Story."

“The Hole Story” follows the tale of a young girl named Wendy who aspires to be an archaeologist. While digging around in her backyard, she is suddenly transported back in time. In her travels, she meets an array of characters from royals to mythical beasts (like unicorns). Armed with her wits and her trusty shovel, she digs and solves riddles in hopes of saving a princess and making her way back home.

The young developers who made this enchanting game call themselves the Negatives. They are a group of girls (ages ranging from 10 to 16) who participated in the “Girls Make Games” camp and won the first “Girls Make Games” Demo Day competition. The camp itself lasts about three weeks, and the competition is judged by such industry elite as Tim Shafer (founder of Double Fine Productions, creator of “Psychonauts”) and Kellee Santiago (formerly of thatgamecompany, current Head of Developer Relations for Ouya).

The Kickstarter for “The Hole Story” hopes to raise $10,000 with stretch goals including a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the game as well as plushies and keychains for the appropriate tiers. If it reaches its initial goal, it will be published by Learn District and published on the Google Play store. Should it reach the $30,000, they intend to do a cross-platform launch that will include iOS and Ouya.

If you want to help, head on over to their Kickstarter and donate. For more information on Girls Make Games and their camps and mission, check out their official website.
