“The Last Guardian” Officially Announced….Again
The wait is almost over...again
At Sony's E3 this evening, it was announced that not only does "The Last Guardian" live but it now also has a release date. Well, a release window. According to the announcement tonight, 2016 will be the year of "The Last Guardian."
"The Last Guardian," by Team ICO, has been in development hell since it was first announced at E3 in 2009. Each time a rumor of it would surface, it would vanish from the world again. It was starting to seem like the game would never actually be released.
Today though, we got a six minute taste of "The Last Guardian" and the promise of an actual release.
From the gameplay trailer, we know that the players will likely be playing the role of a boy as he tries to navigate a massive ruin. Of course, he'll have the help of his giant friend (Trico). The gameplay seems to be mostly puzzle-based - the player moving the boy around the temple and coaxing the animal to help out when possible. What is really interesting is that the animal is just as dependent on the boy as the boy is on him. There will likely be more than a few times where the player will have to act fast to save Trico.
It's been a long wait already for "The Last Guardian," and it seems that we'll have to wait just a bit longer. According to Sony, "The Last Guardian" will be released sometime next year.
