TellTale Games Releases Official Trailer for “Game of Thrones”
Cast Members Reprising Their Characters In Game
After months of vague twitter teasers and the occasional nugget of information dropped in an interview, TellTale Games has officially released a trailer for their upcoming "Game of Thrones" game.
One awesome thing to note is that the woman narrating the trailer, the woman that sounds a lot like Cersei Lannister, is actually Cersei Lannister. Some of the cast members from the show are reprising their roles in the show and are actually doing the voice work in the game. Here is a quote from the official blog/press release:
Today we can announce that some cast members of the television series will reprise their roles in the game. While you'll get to control five members of House Forrester in your story, the series will have you interacting with characters you already know and love (or hate) throughout the season, including Tyrion Lannister performed by Peter Dinklage, Cersei Lannister performed by Lena Heady, Margaery Tyrell performed by Natalie Dormer, and Ramsay Snow performed by Iwan Rheon. Additional cast members will appear in later episodes... as for who and when? That would spoil the surprise!
The first episode of the game, entitled "Iron From Ice" (the words of House Forrester), drops us right into the middle of a fight for survival as House Forrester struggles with it's past loyalty to House Stark (who are now all "traitors" to the realm) and is doing whatever it can to survive the War of Five Kings. One can imagine the inner struggle of the Forrester family as they are forced to publicly forsake their long history of loyalty to the Starks and make all kinds of deals to ensure that the reins of their house aren't passed to another lord - one, perhaps, that will act more favorably to the Lannisters and the Iron Throne.
The game will be played from five different points of view. Each is a member of House Forrester; either a direct family member, or a person in service to the House. Scattered across Westeros and Essos, each will play their part in seeking to save House Forrester from destruction.
We already know that the player will have access to five different characters in the game - all members of House Forrester. Confirmed now is that they will be spread out all over the world, giving us a chance to see a lot of the sights from the show and giving us a lot of opportunity to see how a decision in one place can ripple across the land and affect events in a completely different area. Even though it is technically working with a much smaller house than what we're use to seeing on the HBO series, TellTale Games seems prepared to give us the real "Game of Thrones" experience.
In the trailer, we see Ironrath - home of the Forresters. We definitely see King's Landing and the Iron Throne a few times. We get a glimpse of a man walking up on the Wall and Castle Black. And we get to see Ramsay Snow doing what Bolton's do best - flaying. The official press release mentions Essos, and while I didn't see any locations in the trailer that spoke "Essos" to me, I think it'll be really interesting to see how a Forrester could find himself across the Narrow Sea, and what they would be doing in a land of Red Priests, Faceless Men, Dothraki hordes, water dancers and, of course, dragons.
Telltale's "Game of Thrones" is due out by the end of this year, and is available on all PC, OS X, Playstation 3 & 4 and X-Box 360 & One.
