“Street Fighter” Producer Admits Underestimating Popularity of Single Player
New Game Modes Also in the Works
"Street Fighter V," despite its popularity, was still criticised for a number of reasons, including its initial lack of single-player content. Producer Yoshinori Ono has since admitted that he and Capcom had misjudged the demand for such content.
I think it's safe to say that we underestimated the popularity of some of the single-player features ... that said, we are excited about the two all-new single-player modes - character story and survival - and we have plans to continue to refine and expand onto those experiences. Yoshinori Ono
There was no arcade mode included in "Street Fighter V," which is odd considering it's a common staple in most fighting games, not just "Street Fighter." There's no word on when that will be included in a future update, but the aforementioned Story Mode (which was announced with a fancy cinematic trailer a couple of months ago) is currently set to launch in June.
The other main criticism concerned with server issues though the majority of them have since been fixed. However, Capcom have yet to implement a means of dealing with rage-quitters. However, Ono promises that they are working on it.
We are putting in a lot of effort to smooth out the server problems and address issues such as rage quitters, which is affecting players' online experience. Once we are able to implement all the fixes we have in store, I'm confident fans will enjoy the online experience that much more. Yoshinori Ono
