“Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” Arrives

The Best Live Action "Street Fighter" is Finally Here

“Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” Arrives - The Best Live Action

After years of failed attempts at making a good "Street Fighter" movie, it appears someone finally got it right. It all started with Joey Ansah and Christian Howard wanting to step out and do a Live-Action "Street Fighter" 'right'. They first created a short film titled "Street Fighter Legacy," and released it to YouTube in 2010 as a proof of concept. They then turned to a Kickstarter project to flesh out the full series.

During the San Diego Comic Con in 2012, Capcom announced their support of the project and gave the rights to Joey and Christian to go forward. The Kickstarter was initiated April 9, 2013 and was cancelled April 17, 2013 a mere six days after it started. This was due to private funders stepping forward and paying the full amount, rendering crowd funding unnecessary. Production began July 14, 2013 and wrapped up Aug. 24, 2013.

Machinima released 12 episodes at 11-12 minutes each May 23 on YouTube. More plans for the series are still in motion; these 12 episodes will be combined into six 22 minute long episodes and aired at a later date on TV as a mini-series. The miniseries will be followed by a 105-minute movie syndicated for television, then a two-hour, uncut Blu-ray release.

The series is also being used as promotion for "Ultra Street Fighter IV" which comes out for digital download on June 3.
