THEY’RE HERE!

Well, almost. As soon as the west coast docks open back up wave 6 of Fantasy Flight’s X-Wing miniatures game will be hitting stores near you!

The new ships are beautifully pre-painted, as always, and the new tactics they introduce are sure to re-excite even the most seasoned player.

This wave introduces an entirely new faction to the eternal struggle for space-battle supremacy we already know and love. And they are SO COOL. I have claimed Empire as my faction and I’m not going to lie, Boba Fett was a huge deciding factor, but now my entire squad could be bounty hunters? And there is a new, scrappier scum faction version of the Fett that keeps him engaged in close combat.

The central Most Wanted Expansion pack comes with two Z-95 Headhunters and one Y-wing, both with new Scum themed paint jobs, new ship cards for your existing HWK-290, Y-wing, Z-95 Headhunter, and Firespray-31 ships, 19 new upgrade cards, and new maneuver dials for the new scum faction ship versions. The upgrade cards include salvaged astromechs, an illicit weapon that was outlawed by the Empire, and several “scum only” crew members, one of which is everyone’s favorite little green assassin, Greedo.

Along with that there are three single-ship expansions: M3-A Interceptor, StarViper, and The IG-2000 Expansions.

The M3-A Interceptor is highly adaptable, able to incorporate any armament you might want to experiment with. The ships are cheap and can allow you to build a squad of perhaps three M3-As alongside another ship for maximum variety and, therefore, adaptability in battle.

The StarViper-class attack platform is armed to the teeth with dual laser cannons and a thick hull so don’t be afraid to throw this ship right into the middle of the field. It can take a bit of a beating and is still agile enough to boost or barrel roll out of harm’s way when needed.

Assassin droid IG-88 made the IG-2000 infamous in the Star Wars universe. Without restrictions of a biological body, IG-88 can maneuver however it so pleases. And so it does. The IG-2000 is a large-base ship who’s movement dial introduces the Sengor’s Loop maneuver, a bank ending in a 180 degree turn, an impossible feat for organic pilots. Another notable thing about this ship is that there are no unique pilot cards for it. When you field more than one IG-2000 with the IG-2000 title card that are all be piloted by IG-88, the droids’ minds link and they can all utilize each other’s pilot ability. I think that is such a novel, amazing, unique mechanic and is probably my favorite part of this entire expansion.

But the anticipation isn’t quite over yet! In March 2015 the Empire will get its own huge ship! The Imperial Raider Expansion Pack will include a TIE Advanced with an alternate paint scheme and will finally give Imperial squads a counter to the Rebellion’s Tantive IV.
