“Star Citizen” Hits $63 Million Stretch Goal
More Ships and Pets on the Horizon
"Star Citizen" never seems to be short on funding. The popular yet-to-be-released space game just reached $63 million in funding, and with that stretch goal, the game grows.
With $63 million, "Star Citizen" will be adding another ship - the MISC Reliant. The Reliant will be another starter ship, but unlike the Aurora or the Mustang, it will feature two seats (rather than the standard one-seater starters) and will make heavy use of Xi'An technology. We know it'll have a vertical design but not much else. The Xi'An technology should give the Reliant an interesting role in the game.
Given the speed at which Star Citizen is funded, it seems likely that the next stretch goal, at $64 million, is within reach as well: pets.
We have repair bots, we have fish… but we haven’t implemented a traditional pet system in Star Citizen yet. At $64 million, that changes. From Jones the Cat in Alien to the Battlestar Galactica’s Daggit, pets have a place onboard starships… and we want to give you that option in Star Citizen. Expect traditional terrestrial options, plus anything exotic we can dream up in the Star Citizen universe!

So when "Star Citizen" finally launches (estimated sometime next year), you'll be able to take your very own family pet into the stars with you.
You always knew Fido would make a good co-pilot.
