Sony to Merge Entertainment Divisions Into One Company
New Company Titled "Sony Interactive Entertainment"
Sony has announced that they will be merging their Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment into one company, forming Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE).
By integrating the strengths of PlayStation’s hardware, software, content and network operations, SIE will become an even stronger entity, with a clear objective to further accelerate the growth of the PlayStation® business. Along with our business partners, SIE will develop pioneering services and products that will continue to inspire consumers’ imaginations and lead the market. We will work hard to maximize corporate value by coordinating global business operations across San Mateo, Tokyo, and London by leveraging local expertise. Andrew House
It seems that there could possibly be more of a focus on the PlayStation side of entertainment as Sony is putting more effort into the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation VR. The immediate effect of the merge has not been seen, but changes (if anything major) will be seen in the near future.
