“Shadow Puppeteer”
One Boy, His Shadow, and an Evil Shadow Puppeteer
On Sept. 29, PC’s across the globe get a shadowy new adventure that stands on the lighter side of fun. "Shadow Puppeteer" is a co-op adventure set in the simple world of a boy and his shadow. The boy manipulates his shadow and chasing the Shadow Puppeteer. However, it’s not as sinister as it might sound.
So far, we've mentioned shadows, but that’s not just bad writing. The game from Norwegian developer Sarepta studio, a new face in the world of Indie gaming, uniquely uses the players' ability to manipulate both light and darkness to create its puzzles and adventure. The Shadow Puppeteer has stolen shadows, and it’s up to this daring duo to recover them.
The game is in every sense of the word a co-op adventure. From the ground up its has been designed to be played with a friend. You control either the boy or his shadow and work together to move objects around the level in order to allow both of you to progress. Every object has a shadow, and it’s up to you to find its purpose.
This game really stands out when played with a friend, but don’t despair if you haven’t got that buddy to hand. "Shadow Puppeteer" also offers a single player mode where you control both of the characters yourself, and it will prove a challenge as you will have to think fast and act quickly in order to get the job done on your own.
Sarepta studio have created a distinctive and very charming art style, but it suits this type of game and makes the experience more enjoyable. This game has been made with care and with the support of both the NGP (Nordic Game Program) and the Norwegian Film Institute; it’s got the potential to be more than just a blip in the Indie gaming radar.
The game will be releasing for Steam, Glyph, and Humble store 6 PM (GMT), Sept. 29.
