Prototype for Nintendo/Sony’s Console Surface
Lost History at It's Finest
A Reddit user has claimed to find a prototype for the console Nintendo and Sony were working on in the past.
It's a combination of cartage and disc readers that Nintendo was trying to do back during the Nintendo 64 era. While there may have been earlier shots of the prototypes before (in magazines during said time), there hasn't been a lot of good looks at the console and controller until now.
Nintendo and Sony were to collaborate for a system to read both types of games, but the deal fell through after negotiations led to the two splitting apart. The PlayStation was conceived by Sony, while Nintendo went to Phillips for the Philips CD-I, where the console is only remembered for laughably silly attempts at "Super Mario Bros." and "The Legend of Zelda" games.
