“Primal Carnage: Extinction” Announced

The Prequel "Primal Carnage: Genesis" Put on Hold

“Primal Carnage: Extinction” Announced - The Prequel

"Primal Carnage: Genesis," the prequel to the first game "Primal Carnage," has been put on hold for a while. However, Lukewarm Media has announced that there will be another game to take its place: "Primal Carnage: Extinction." Announced on PlayStation Blog, "Primal Carnage: Extinction" will be a sequel to the original with class-based multiplayer. We assume that the game will play very similarly to the first one with improved mechanics and more classes to play with.

What does that mean for "Primal Carnage: Genesis?" The single-player first-person shooter isn't canceled but put on an indefinite hold.

There was a strong concept for single-player narrative-driven Primal Carnage game, and there was an exciting opportunity to develop a game for the PS4, built on the brand new Unreal Engine 4, but ultimately the project was too large in scope for Lukewarm Media to pursue, and the project was unofficially put on hold at the end of Summer 2013.

Speaking on behalf of the Primal Carnage team (both old and new), we were blown away by the support Genesis received in the last year and a half, and if everything goes well for us with Primal Carnage: Extinction we would definitely consider pursuing Genesis. For the moment, however, Genesis is effectively still on hold. Aaron Pollack

"Primal Carnage: Extinction" is scheduled to release on the PlayStation 4 and PC sometime in the first quarter of 2015. The original, "Primal Carnage," is available now on PC.
