Oculus VR Hires SuperGiant Games Lead Programmer Chris Jurney - An Unknown Role Working with Oculus Rift

Facebook-owned development endeavor Oculus VR signed on yet another industry veteran yesterday in their continued push for experience and to become a true force in the entertainment industry.

After spending $2 billion to bring Oculus VR into the Facebook family, a widely criticized move, the acquisition of Chris Jurney is a step in the right direction for Oculus as they continue to try and deliver fully immersive virtual experiences. Facebook will also seek to prove they have not stifled the growth and development of a company that alone managed to raise an $91 million in crowd funding for the Oculus Rift.

Having worked alongside the likes of Relic Entertainment, Kaos Studios, Double Fine Productions, and most recently, SuperGiant Games, who brought us "Bastion" and "Transistor," Jurney has a lot of experience to provide and has openly expressed his love of VR.

What this means for Oculus VR or the Oculus Rift has yet to be determined, but with a varied career in graphics and AI programming, Jurney certainly has the background to bring something new to the platform and further explore its potential.

Although his Twitter update states he won’t be joining the company until the end of the month, it is certainly an exciting time for fans of VR and owners of the Oculus Rift. This shows a commitment to the platform and a desire to make it the next big gaming experience.
