“No Man’s Sky” Coming to PC after PS4-Timed Exclusivity Period
Hello Games Revealed "No Man's Sky" Will Be a Timed Exclusive, Coming to PC Afterwards
"No Man's Sky" looks to be one of the most ambitious titles in 2014, coming from small indie studio Hello Games. The procedurally generated, open-world space shooter offers a lot in terms of adventure and the developers have announced it will be coming to PC after a timed exclusivity period on PS4.
This is good news for everyone apart from the PS4 fanboys who have lost another full exclusive. Hello Games did not say how long the timed exclusive would last. Normally these things go on for a few months, before the developer and publisher part to move to PC. However, "No Man's Sky" will not be coming to Xbox One.
Adding "No Man's Sky" onto the PC seems like a logical move, given the depth of the world and the ability to change the game through mods. Hello Games has not disclosed plans when No Man's Sky hits the PC, but hopefully they will allow the developer community to build on their game, similar to "Minecraft."
We still do not know if "No Man's Sky" will be up there as one of our favorites, as the trailers and first looks seem promising if a bit bland. The economy system, shared world, and space fights might push Hello Games' first major title from mediocre to brilliant. It reminds us a bit of "Spore" before launch with all the hype surrounding it.
"No Man's Sky" should launch on PS4 some time in 2015, most likely in Q1 with all of the other delayed titles.
