Next “Assassin’s Creed” May Skip 2016

According to sources from Kotaku, the next major "Assassin's Creed" game will not release 2016, skipping this year to develop the game longer.
Many fans and critics have agreed that the series hasn't been at its best with the annual releases of each game, with the major offenders being in 2014 with "Assassin's Creed: Rogue" and especially "Assassin's Creed: Unity." Whether this may be the reason for the rumor isn't known, but the buggy release of "Unity" probably caused a noticeable dip in sales for "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate."
Among these rumors is that this supposedly new game, "Assassin's Creed: Empire," is set in Egypt. Perhaps this new setting will heavy inspiration from Ubisoft's other similar series "Prince of Persia," or even that "Empire" may lead to a "Prince of Persia" game if "Empire" does well (though that is under extreme speculation).
While a major release for the series probably won't see 2016, "Assassin's Creed: Chronicles," three side-scrolling games set in India, Russia, and China respectfully, are all set to come out this year (if not already released).
