New “Katamari Damacy” Trademark Appears
Possible Hints Towards a Remake
It's always important not to get excited over the most minute of gaming discoveries, but it's really hard not to in some cases. For example, Bandai Namco have reportedly registered a new trademark for "Amazing Katamari Damacy" in Europe.
The trademark was spotted by NeoGAF user ekim. Naturally, we have no other info regarding it. For all we know, this could ultimately lead to nothing and is just Bandai Namco taking measures to keep the IP as their property. Of course, though, past trademarks have eventually led to announcements. Plus, there's no entry in the series with that title. Could it be a brand new entry? On the other hand, the majority of sequels that followed the first game dropped the "Damacy" part of the title, so maybe this is alluding to a remake of the first game? This might be the more likely answer as the first game was never released in Europe.
The original "Katamari Damacy" was released on the PS2 in 2004. Players had to roll a sticky ball around an area and use it to roll up all manner of objects and make the ball even bigger in the process. It received many positive reviews and obtained a cult following.
