“Munchkin Adventure Time!” and “Munchkin Gloom” Announced - Oh My Glob!

It seems like the world can never have too many "Munchkin" sets. Last year at GenCon, it was announced that Steve Jackson Games would be teaming up with USAopoly and Cartoon Network to create a brand new set of cards around the mega-popular cartoon, "Adventure Time!"

For the most part, the rules don't differ from other "Munchkin" games. You kick down a door, deal with whatever is on the other side (monster, traps, or loot), and then move on to the next room. The first player to level 10 wins! It's never that easy though, because the closer you get to winning, the more the other players are going to work to mess you up and knock you down.

The "Munchkin Adventure Time!" is trying out something new this time, though. Rather than play a nameless adventurer in some weird old dungeon, you are actually given characters from "Adventure Time" to play. Each character has its own special power that stays with you throughout the game. The game still has its classic gender switch curses though, so Finn can become Fionna and Jake can become Cake and BMO can become ... BMO. If you're a fan of the show "Adventure Time!" and want to battle as only Munchkins can in the Land of Ooo, you should definitely check this game out. You can play it as a standalone set, or if you're feeling really crazy, you can combine sets and play a rousing game of Axe Cop "Adventure Time In Space Munchkin" and just see how absurd you can get.

Currently, the game is projected to hit stores Aug. 27. If you're at GenCon this year, if you speed by the Steve Jackson Games table, you might be able to grab yourself a copy (if the Ice King hasn't kidnapped them all already)!

Also, announced at GenCon this year: "Munchkin Gloom! " "Gloom" is another card game by Atlas Games where the object is to create the most depressing story and then kill off your characters in the most depressing, creative way possible It sounds ... well, depressing, but the game is actually a lot of fun.

Gloom is all about killing your own characters in the most creative, depressing ways possible. No game has as many creative ways to kill things as Munchkin does! We can't wait to see what gamers think of this combination. Andrew Hackard, Munchkin Czar

"Munchkin Gloom" is due for release in 2015.
