“MGSV: Ground Zeroes” Side Mission Alludes to Kojima Name Removal

As pointed out by the YouTuber timesplitter88, a side mission in the "Deja Vu" segment of "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" alludes Konami removing Hideo Kojima's name from "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain."

In the mission, Solid Snake (as in the "MGS1" Solid Snake) has to erase "Metal Gear" titles from existence that have had Hideo Kojima as the main man behind them. For example, "Metal Gear Solid" has to be erased, but "Metal Gear Acid 2" doesn't, where Kazuhira Miller (or Kaz) remarks "Looks like that's nothing special..."

Prior to Konami removing Kojima's name from the boxart for "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," this mission seemed more of a way to honor Kojima and his work for the "Metal Gear" series. Now, however, it seems that Kojima and/or Kojima Productions slipped this in as a way to foretell events that were to come. Kaz has one last chilling remark on the mission, saying, "You might be able to erase the markings, but the memories will never disappear..."

"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" is scheduled to release for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 1, 2015. The PC version is scheduled to release on Sept. 11. However, with the shaky relationship between Konami and Kojima at the moment, things can be changed quickly, as seen with the cancellation of "Silent Hills."
