LucasFilm Head Says “Star Wars 1313” Isn’t Completely Dead
Mostly Dead, not All Dead
Speaking with SlashFilm, LucasFilm head Kathleen Kennedy discussed the live-action TV show "Star Wars: Underworld" and surprisingly "Star Wars 1313," the (now seemingly) cancelled game when LucasArts was around and developing the game.
Unbelievable. So our attitude is, we don’t want to throw any of that stuff away. It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to.
For those who don't know, LucasArts was a developer that made adventure games, such as the early "Sam and Max" games, and "Star Wars" games. Their studios were eventually closed when Disney acquired LucasFilm and the rights to "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones," with a good indicator that LucasArts hadn't produced a lot of games during that time. That meant that "Star Wars 1313" was cancelled when development ceased.
While the trademark hasn't been renewed as of this writing, it's surprising that Disney and LucasFilm hasn't completely given up on the ideas "Star Wars 1313" brought. Whether this means they'll try to re-implement the project as a whole or take the ideas and revamp them isn't known. Also be noted that EA will most likely be behind the project as well.
