Korean Dev Relaunches God-Game Kickstarter
Goal Amount Significantly Smaller This Time
Korean-based game developer Dynamic Develop Team (DDT) Games launched a second Kickstarter campaign on Sept. 22 for their upcoming game “ThanksGiving Life” after an unsuccessful attempt in July of this year.
The game, abbreviated by the developers as “TGL,” was green-lighted on Steam May 6, and a Kickstarter was launched a month later. The campaign was unsuccessful, having only reached approximately $8,700 of its $50,000 goal. Since then, the developers claimed to “have been hard at work remedying TGL's shortcomings.”
“TGL” is a god-simulator game where the player, represented by a large hand within the game, can directly influence an in-game character’s life. The in-game characters, called “Peeps,” are programmed with different personalities and aspirations. It is then up to the player to provide the intervention needed for their peeps. DDT Games cites the movie “Bruce Almighty” as one of their inspirations for the game’s concept.
“We hugely increased the game content including a number of new 'God Powers!',” said game designer and director Dexter Yoo in a Steam announcement dated Sept. 14. The new contents are showcased in their new trailer, which is also being used for their newer Kickstarter campaign. The campaign has a goal of $15,000 and will run for 43 days.
