Japanese Nintendo Direct 5/31 Information

New 3DS Games, Amiibo News, and More

Nintendo released a Japanese Nintendo Direct aimed at upcoming games both new and already announced.

Footage for Namco's "Project TREASURE" was shown. It looks like a hack-n-slash/third-person shooter type of game with classes. The group you go with are in pursuit of treasure, and it also looks like they have to use their strengths to defeat enemies and get the treasure.

A new "Pokemon Mystery Dungeon" game was announced called "Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon." It will launch on Sept. 27, 2015 in Japan and in the West sometime in 2016.

About 10 minutes of gameplay footage for "Fire Emblem If" was shown. It showed some of the customization for the customizable character you control along with some town management called "My Castle." Robin, Lucina, Ike, and Marth will also be summonable supports through amiibo. While Lucina and Robin use their "Fire Emblem Awakening" art designs, Marth and Ike have been given new update art portraits for the game.

More information was also given for "Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer." It'll be a full retail game costing 4,000 Yen (which is about $32 or your regions equivalent). There's also a bundle that includes the NFC reader for the regular 3DS for 5,000 Yen. The amiibo cards have also been announced to come in booster packs that cost 300 Yen. In addition, there wil be a special edition New 3DS "Animal Crossing" version with a New 3DS face plate, costing 22,000 Yen and 2,000 and releasing on July 30, 2015.

A new "Dr. Mario" game has been announced, which features online play, download play support, and the "Dr. Luigi" elements from that game. New gameplay features a power bar on the side that'll aid in taking out more of the viruses easily and touch screen support for better angling and control of the falling vitamins. The game will release for the 3DS, but no word on a Western release has been stated yet.

"Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games" was announced. The game will release on the Wii U and 3DS. The sports revealed so far are track-and-field, gymnastics, table tennis, soccer/football, volleyball, golf, and rugby. New additions to the roster include Nabbit and Diddy Kong from the "Mario" & "Donkey Kong" series and Rouge the Bat and Jet the Hawk from the "Sonic the Hedgehog" series (with maybe Zazz from "Sonic Lost Worlds," but that isn't known just yet).

A new "Chibi Robo" game has been announced for the 3DS. This installment looks like it'll be a 2D platformer based on Cheebo's plug to use as a whip and grappling hook. In addition, there will be a new amiibo of the adorable robot with a similar leveling up system as seen in "Super Smash Bros."

"Dragon Quest VIII," the 3DS port of the original PlayStation 2 version, releases in Japan on August 27.

"Yoshi's Wooly World" and the Yarn Yoshi amiibo will release on July 16. Wave 5b for the "Super Smash Bros." amiibo will release in Japan on July 30.

Lastly "Monster Hunter X" (pronounced as Cross) was announced for the 3DS, which will release in Japan sometime in Winter 2015. This installment looks to be a bit more flashy and action-based than previous "Monster Hunter" games. There are also village segments that may act as a hub for quest starting, item buying, and the sort.
