Information on Nintendo’s Investor Meeting on Amiibos 2015 - Tidbits on 3DS Adapter, Highest Numbers in Each Country, Etc.

Information from Nintendo's Investor Meeting on Amiibos has been released (in Japanese). Thanks to Amiibo Inquirer and several others, most of the information has been translated.

Most of the sales from Amiibos have been from America, holding a 63% of the sales with Europe at 23%, Japan at 11%, and Australia at 3%. Link, Mario, Kirby, and Pikachu (not in that order) have been the most popular Amiibos.

New information regarding what Amiibos could do have also been announced. As it stands, the Amiibos can unlock certain game snippets of NES and SNES Virtual Consoles games on the Wii U. The Amiibo adapter is still in the works.

Most alarming for collectors is that Nintendo is in talks for extremely limited edition Amiibos, which may link towards the outrageously priced figures going from $30 to $80 or more on Amazon and Ebay. Satoru Iwata, the current president of Nintendo, was not anticipating that people would be collecting certain Amiibos and selling them online for higher costs. Luckily for those who weren't able to collect the rarer Amiibos, Nintendo will consider putting more in production for the rare Amiibos and the ones that have additional uses in games.
