FEZ II Canned
Phil Fish Ragequits
Phil Fish, developer of the indie hit "FEZ," has had another temper tantrum. Apparently, he didn't take too kindly to the comments made by some folks over at GameTrailers.
Yep. I'm done.
'Fez 2' is cancelled. I am done. I take the money, and I run. This is as much as I can stomach. This isn't the result of any one thing, but the end of a long, bloody campaign. You win. [sic]
On a recent episode of the GameTrailers show "Invisible Walls," Marcus Beer ("Annoyed Gamer") criticizes Phil about not giving some quotes about Xbox One indie game policies. Harsh words were said, and lines were most certainly crossed, but something to this extent is surprising to say the least. "FEZ" has been wildly popular, and especially considering the wrap up of the Steam Summer Sale, you would figure a sequel would be all but guaranteed!
to be clear, im not cancelling 'FEZ II' because some boorish fuck said something stupid, im doing it to get out of games. and im getting out of games because i choose not to put up with this abuse anymore [sic]
All of this back and forth isn't professional on either end and portrays a slightly darker side of the gaming universe that doesn't quite usually come to light the way this has. "FEZ II" was announced at E3 2013 during the Horizon indie press conference with few details made available. We certainly hope Phil changes his mind and hope that we may one day see a "FEZ II," but for now, we're not holding our breath.
