EA Refutes GameStop’s Claims That “Battlefront” Underperformed -

After retailer GameStop claims that "Star Wars Battlefront (2015)" underperformed, EA chief operating officer Peter Moore spoke at the Credit Suisse Technology, Media, and Telecom conference and stated that there is "no weakness" in the sales of the game (please note that GameSpot reported this information on the conference, as it requires special permission to see the details).

GameSpot originally stated that, along "Star Wars Battlefront (2015)," "Halo 5: Guardians" and "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" also underperformed when they released this year. Peter Moore, at the very least, seems to be "surprised" by this comment.

The comments were interesting and a little bit of a surprise to us. From our perspective, I'm here to reaffirm our guidance of 13 million units sold in for the fiscal year. There is no weakness that is perceptible yet in the title.

I want everybody to understand that based on where we think this title is and the marketing beats ahead of us, in particular the movie launch over the next two weeks, we feel very comfortable that we're going to hit the guidance that we've given analysts, investors and Wall Street alike. Peter Moore

There could be a number of reasons why "Battlefront" underperformed when it released (at GameStop anyways). A Black Friday ad leaked prior to the game's launch, which included a "Battlefront" PlayStation 4 bundle. Another reason could be the many number of other retailers, such as Best Buy, Target, and Amazon, who are selling games.

It should be noted, however, that Peter Moore didn't elaborate on how the sales went for the game, as those numbers aren't known just yet. Reportedly people are saying it sold well, but Moore nor EA has said anything about the actual number of sales. "Fallout 4" stated a rough estimate of how many games they sold after a week from release.
