Cancelled “Kingdom Hearts” Mobile Game Artwork Found
"Frozen," "Wreck-It Ralph," "Star Wars," and More
Artwork and concept art for a cancelled "Kingdom Hearts" game, "Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys" were discovered by KH13, a "Kingdom Hearts" fan site.
"Kingdom Hearts: Fragmented Keys" was in development for a few years by Go For Launch Productions (GFL Productions) in what looks like a partnership with Disney Interactive, the team that distributed the other "Kingdom Hearts" games. The game was also cancelled for unknown reasons.
As seen in the concept art, original characters could visit other worlds via a central train station similar to the main area in "Wreck-It Ralph." Old worlds (or movies in this case) that had artwork include "Aladdin," "Alice in Wonderland," "Peter Pan," "Snow White," "Lilo & Stitch," and "Tron." New worlds never before seen in the "Kingdom Hearts" universe include "Wreck-It Ralph," Frozen," "Tangled," and "Star Wars." Some of the worlds had characters hand drawn interacting with the unnamed characters while others were just rough drafts or reused 3D renders from existing "Kingdom Hearts" games. To see the work, KH13 has them available.
It appears that some amount of effort was put into the mobile game. However, there wasn't anything shown in terms of gameplay, the plot, actual in-game renders, or anything else other than artwork/concept art. Buttons of how the character would attack (presumably in its earliest testing) was shown, but to what extent of usual remains unclear.
