Another One Bites the Dust at Carbine, Holiday Content Cancelled
Designer Stephan Frost Quits, Holiday Content Ends Before It Starts
It doesn’t seem like “WildStar” fans can catch a break lately with another developer resignation and the cancellation of new PVE content, which has been begged for by fans not ready for the “raiding endgame” which includes strenuous, time-consuming daily grinds.
Design Producer Stephan Frost announced on yesterday’s Nexus Report livestream he’d be leaving Carbine Studios for good, assuring players it wasn’t the community that pushed him away.
It really pains me to say this, but this will be my last show and my last week at Carbine," he said on the show. "I'm off to a new adventure; I got an offer that I couldn't turn down and so I'm going to take it. This is super-hard for me. This is one of my proudest achievements. A lot of my heart and soul is in this game. Stephan Frost, Former “WildStar” Design Producer
Additionally, this latest “WildStar” development follows the announcement that “WildStar” effectively cancelled their in-game holiday celebration. According to an official post on the forums, the cancellation was due to bug-fixing and preparation for the much-anticipated Drop 3 content:
Ultimately it was put aside because we, as a company, are focused on making the next patch as free of bugs as we can possibly manage. That means testing... a lot of testing. We have finite testing resources -- any company does -- and so the choice had to be made between including the holidays in our testing and thus having the content as a whole -- all of Drop 3 -- get less testing, or excise the holidays and ensure the other content, the content that would be permanent, got more. As we're committed to that quality bar, the limited-time holidays had to take a back seat. Caydiem, Carbine Studios Staff
Just last week, Player Theory reported that Hugh Shelton, the lead class designer, took off for seemingly greener pastures. This was confirmed through an updated to his LinkedIn profile, which displays current employement at Blizzard on the “Heroes of the Storm” team as a senior designer.
