An Eye on Indie: It’s called “Mustache Ride”

So before things get creepy I’ll point out that this is an infinite runner/”Flappy Bird” styled game. When you play the title you’ll see the similarities to the latter, but it’s more than just a simple clone. This game takes one man’s passion and adds in a moustache riding ant on a mission to escape city life, sporting fantastic facial hair along the way.
The game is certainly a bizarre concept but it’s unique enough in theme to draw an interest. If you like games that rely on simple controls and reward you by increasing the difficulty as you progress further and further into the level then it’s worth a try.
It’s one button to go up and then you let yourself free fall down out of the way of objects; seems simple, seems easy. Something I discovered in an unfortunate ant-related shaving accident is that some of the objects (namely the giant spinning razors) track your movement. They will zero in on you like some kind of terrifying facial hair-destroying WMD, and you’ll only have a second or so to drop or climb out of their way before they slash off screen.
“Mustache Ride” has its limitations. There is a finite amount of variation, the scenery and enemies repeat, but the hand drawn visuals provide a charming quality that alleviates this slightly. It almost makes you forget you’re an ant riding on a moustache trying to dodging flying razors.

Being a moustache fanatic certainly helps and if you are a fellow moustache aficionado then this might be right up your street. The rewards in the game for progression are based on collectable moustaches, the higher the score the better the moustache (just like in real life, right?). There is also an NPC café where you can hang out to and talk to some extra characters who will drop you hints. For the truly dedicated there is a story mode to explore.
I just really love games about getting a high score. The concept actually started as a joke with my friends, because I love moustaches and bugs and was wondering how to make a game about both, and somehow it turned into a reality as my first game. - Thaao Hanshew
