“Amplitude” Flies onto Shelves Jan. 5 - Successful Kickstarter Campaign Rejuvinates Harmonix's Rhythm-Based IP

“Amplitude” will hit shelves Jan. 5, 2016. The release will be available on PlayStation 4. Kickstarter backers who paid in $40 receive the game early on Dec. 23. Developer Harmonix also plans to showcase “Amplitude” at PSX, a convention in San Francisco on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6.

“Amplitude” is a rhythm-based action title originally set for development over 10 years ago in 2003. Since it received Kickstarter funding last May, Harmonix has promised single-player and multi-player campaigns which utilize the PS4 controller. Players control a ship based on their ability to match the beat with the goal to control the ship through the end of the song.

“Amplitude” is a sequel to the game “Frequency,” which was released on the PS2 in 2001.

In addition to an official release date, the Kickstarter project also revealed the official song list, which included compositions from well-recognized members of the gaming music community.

With a soundtrack of over 30 songs, Amplitude includes music from exciting artists such as Darren Korb (Transistor), C418 (Minecraft), Insomniac Games, and Freezepop, as well as songs from Kickstarter backers, and music crafted by Harmonix’s talented in-house composers. Harmonix
